Microphone/Speaker Requirements

Posted by Wendy

Hi all,

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to participate in the expo or what equipment you need to participate.

You need to be able to hear so Speakers/Headphones are required by all.

Everyone will need speakers or headphones in order to fully benefit from the Expo.   You can buy cheap computer speakers at any major store that has an electronics department.  Headphones for most portable devices will also work if you plug them into the speaker plug on the back or front of your computer.

Presenters - featured speakers and exhibitors will need a microphone for their computer.

If you aren’t presenting at the expo it is not mandatory to have a microphone, the conference room also has text chat capabilities and this will be how you communicate with everyone in the room.

If you are presenting at the expo (exhibitor or speaker) you will need to have a microphone for your computer.  We recommend you purchase a USB headset.  You pretty much plug them into the back of your computer and you’re ready to go.  These can be purchased from any store with an electronics department (Walmart, Staples, Best Buy, etc.)  They range in price from $20 and can go up fairly high so be sure to purchase something on the cheaper end if this is the only thing you will use it for.

Thanks!  See you at the expo!

Do I need a Microphone and Speakers to attend or present at the Expo

The conference room is an audio video room with synchronized browsing.

It will be a small safe download that won’t take long to put on your computer - This is a cross platform software that works for both PC and Mac.

Speakers - if you do not have a way to listen to audio on your computer you will miss out on a lot of the Expo. Most computers come with speakers and you can get a really cheap set of computer speakers at your local office or computer supply store.

Microphone - if you are a presenter (aka Speaker or Exhibitor) it would help your presentation immensely if you did have a microphone but the rooms also support text chat.

If you are buying one I would suggest getting a usb microphone as it is plug and play and less fiddling of settings to have it work effectively. Usb mics range in price but you shouldn’t have to pay more than $30 - $40 for one.
If the usb ones are out of your price range there are other mics that are not usb. I’ve never had an issue with this kind of mic - if you need any help or have any questions please contact me at wendy@freelanceva.com
